It seems to be that the commissariat of the European Union has decided to make the lives of the European citizen as difficult as possible. For years they have step by step fitting together the straight jacket that has nearly strangled every commercial outlet. It will be obvious that they do not call it a straight jacket. No they have invented a more problematic version called Health and Safety.



It took some time but under the pressure of the commissars, the pressure supplied, the penalties set, country by country have sometimes very reluctant accepted those health and safety rules. Companies lost fortunes, police slacked down to simple actions, and people were killed by fire and other means because the rescue crews could not use common sense as it infringed health and safety rules.



Don’t misunderstand the way of health and safety in the work place and the factory floor there need to be certain safety rules, also called common sense. But the advice to wear an safety helmet if walking under a fruit tree, not to save someone who is drowning as it could endanger your life, or not to safe someone from an burning building as it could lead to fume inhalation, never mind that a person dies.
No it is better to have health and safety rules. No football after school it is possible that a child actual falls, not cycling in the rain as the view is less, no snow ball throwing as it could hit someone, not walking on the ice as it could be slippery the list is endless.



It is now so far that the Health and Safety rules have gone to such extremes that we better stay in bed for fear of injury. Not to out as the hail stones could hit us or the rain could make us wet. A democracy means that every adult should be free to make their own decisions mind regarding their own health and their own safety and not be prevented from attending or participating in so called dangerous activities that are part of life of many hundreds of years with the fear of being sued. It is now almost common that parents are suing school for the most absurd so-called injuries, like getting their hand brazed when they hit another child, whose parents will sue the school because their child was hit. It is nonsense that if a child falls over in the playground it is the school's fault and that play equipment is banned from many schools for exactly this reason. It is obvious that if a company set up a series of events permanently or as just one off the people going to these events have an expectation that they will be safe. Company's should never been freed of that responsibility they need to avoid real dangers in any events. However they should also not being sued by people who ignored the safety rules.



It is time that the European Union comes to their senses, business is restored and children are able to develop themselves, what happens with falling and standing up again, called the learning process. In some European countries it is grown into a special lucrative business that health and safety, behind every tree stands an injury solicitor in the hope that he is the first to offer his services to the victim of the health and safety breach, in the States they call them ambulance chasers.


About time personal responsibility is re-introduced and the knife is taken to this absurdity called European litigation. However, if one of the countries would stop this ridiculous situation then they could be liable to a fine from the EU un-elected self-elected commissars.



However, if the commissars of the EU come to their senses with the impersonation the previous communist commissars, and would come to their senses and remember democracy then it could be just in time to cancel this absurdity and the so many others they create to feel the glory of the power they have.
Now we have people banning Christmas decorations otherwise Muslims could be offended. On itself this is an abnormality, no Muslim will take offence at the Christmas celebrations as the birth of Christ is just as much their celebration as it is of the Christians, and Jesus is their prophet.



Let us hope that common sense may allow this Europe that bans events and activities on health and safety grounds could to get their act in order and to stop the absurdity as goes around will come around. Worst of all is grown up man with responsibility for a country and elected by the population, is set aside and been told by the un-elected commissars of Europe what they can do and not can do.



Those elected people do still that they have the power to handle themselves, but this is just a dream and an illusion to keep the voters happy, even the Unites Kingdom has now under the umbrella of the new coalition signed all the documents needed, even those to create an EURO in their country, this while other countries showing severe doubts and even Germany has trades done already under the DM again.



Wine and dine parties for the new premiers of a country are done mainly by the EU commissioners to create a feel good feeling afterwards it turns out that they signed the papers they did not wanted to sign.
